About me
WILDING X WHY collaborates with a global network of diverse practitioners, drawing upon the expertise of horticulturalists, historians, geologists, and meteorologists, and sparking new ideas in the company of artists, activists, and community members. Through in-depth investigations into a site and its context, layers of meaning are identified and folded into the design; the form of each project arises from the interweaving of those layers, generating a structure grounded within a complex ecological system. At the same time, there is always a moment of lightness and serendipity – the human touch of creative input which transforms a project into something unforeseen and inherently compelling. WILDING X WHY is involved in projects of all scales, from masterplans and urban parks, to private gardens and experimental installations. Looking beyond traditional associations of landscape and planting, the Workshop explores wider ideas of how we inhabit open space, seeking to reveal the beauty of our environment through a felt connection with natural processes. Central to the WILDING approach is the paradigm of Art & Wilding: a way of aligning natural growth patterns with spontaneous creativity.
