About me
Hi, I am Najel Monteiro cultural director for Delfshaven at Cultuur Concreet in Rotterdam, where I support and amplify hyper-local cultural initiatives. My work focuses on empowering residents to shape their own cultural landscape through co-creation, storytelling, and public art. With a background in music, community organizing, and event production, I truly believe in how creative expression can foster connection and resilience. Working closely with local makers, grassroots organizations, and institutional partners to bridge gaps and cultivate sustainable cultural ecosystems.
Advocating for more inclusive and equitable cultural policies that reflect the voices of underrepresented communities. My approach is relational and deeply place-based, always centering the lived experiences of the people I work with. Culture is not only a decoration or an artistic endeavor but is a tool for civic engagement, social justice, and urban regeneration.
