About me
Alex rejoined the Canberra Theatre Centre as Director of the national capital's arts centre, six weeks before COVID disrupted operations, having worked at the Centre 25 years earlier as a lighting technician. The Centre is in planning stages for a major redevelopment which will add a 2,000 seat lyric theatre to the venue portfolio, and transform the 60 year old, three-venue, 2,000 seat facility into a four-venue 5,000 seat modern arts centre. Excitingly, and in parallel and complementary to the theatre's renovations, the city is planning a major revitalisation of adjacent sites to develop a wider arts and cultural district that encompasses the Canberra Museum and Gallery, Civic Square, and a range of activity that will be housed in and around mixed use development. The centre sits proudly in the centre of Civic (Canberra City). Its renovation coupled with an emerging arts and cultural district will bring renewed focus on the importance of live performance and the arts in Canberra.
