With an aim towards building healthy communities where all people can thrive, Maria Rosario Jackson spent more than 35 years working in strategic planning, research, policy and program design and evaluation with philanthropy, government, and nonprofit organizations. A hallmark of her work is a holistic approach that includes diverse perspectives, systems thinking, creativity and imagination. For nearly 20 years, Jackson worked at the Urban Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based national public policy research organization where she led pioneering work on arts in communities and support systems for artists. For more than 10 years, she served as a senior advisor at the Kresge Foundation and other philanthropic organizations.
